Calcutta, July 11. A SEBIES of meetings has been inaugurated under the auspices of the Indian Association to assert the rights of Indians as British subjects.
One speaker declared that the colonies- had declared war against the Indians, and it was impossible for the latter to be patriotic citizens of the Empiro. The India Councils Bill was rejected by the House of Lords because the inclusion of (Indians on the Council would be an eyesore to the English people.

Capetown, July 11.
The retiring Governor-General Viscount Gladstone, in acknowledging a farewell address yesterday, emphasised the growing danger of the colour question. If the matter was allowed to drift, he said, the moral authority of the whites would continue to decrease.
