New York, July 12. During a fire which destroyed a logging camp in Tacoma, 17 men' on board a locomotive were attempting to save a number of loaded lumber cars when the locomotive left the undermined track, and plunged headlong into the fire.
The men were thrown alive into the flames. Fourteen of them escaped badly burnt, while three were burnt to ashes. A boy caught his foot under the overturned engine, and was slowly roasted to death, his companions being too badly injured to assist him to escape.
