ANNUAL REUNION CLOSED.

LOYALTY AND ENTHUSIASM.

The King's College Old Boys' Association's annual reunion was continued on Saturday.

A very largo number of old boys attended the annual dinner on Saturday evening. Mr. J. C. Burns, president of the association, was in the chair, while associated with him at the top table were Mr. C. T Major, headmaster; Dr. W. C. W. McDowell, chairman of the King's College Committee; Dr. W. A. Fairclotigh, Otago Boys' High School; Dr. T. Hope Lewis, New Zealand Association of the Public Schools of Great Britain; Mr. J. N. Rishworth, Nelson College; Mr. Norman Hanna f Wanganui Collegiate School; Mr. F. A. Vickerman, Waitaki High, School; Mr. D. Holderness, Christ's College; Mr. Warwick Wilson, Wellington Collego; and Mr. A. A. Martin, Grammar School. Gatherings of old boys were also held in Dunedin, Wellington, and Sydney on Saturday night.

The loyal toast having been honoured, the president proposed Our Old School." l'ho old boye, ho was glad to say, were rallying around the old school, and it was most gratifying to him to be able to announce that the association's membership was just on 500. The association was now well organised, and was making itself a power for the good of the old school. For this members owed very great thanks to their secretary, Mr. Graham Reid, who, with a strong committee, had worked hard throughout the past year. Before resuming his seat Mr. Burns mentioned tho scheme for the erection of a new school, and remarked that the committee still had the matter in hand, and hoped shortly to announce further developments. Beyond everything it was necessary that the old boys should give the scheme their loyal support, as they had done in the past.

In the course of a brief reply, Mr. C. T. Major congratulated the association upon the most excellent reunion held this year, and said it indicated that tho interest in the old school was as keen as ever. His grateful thanks were due to tho old boys of other colleges for the great interest shown in and friendship felt towards King's Collego. Their help had indeed been great. He was glad that the King's Collego old boys showed such an interest in their school, and it was by their loyalty, devotion, sincerity, and on thusiasm that the old school would stand. Mr. Major sat down amidst loud cheering. New School Scheme. Dr. W. C. W. .McDowell also replied to the toast, remarking that he was associated with, and interested in, the welfare of tho college as chairman of the King's Collego Committee. Referring to tho now school scheme, he regretted that he could not announce tho completion of all details. Although the committee was not able to make this announcement, it was not downhearted, and his wish was to impress upon the gathering that the scheme was going through. King's College was going to continuo, and was going to flourish. In conclusion, he referred to tho Cavendish League, an English Association established for tho purpose of interesting old public school boys in public affairs, and remarked that a similar institution in New Zealand would bo welcomed. The Part of Other Colleges.

Mr. J. E. Makgill, in proposing the toast of "Kindred Associations,' referred to the fa,;t that old boys of other colleges had done a great deal for King's College. In particular ho referred to the lato Mr. Stan. Grundy, a Wellington College old boy, who, prior to his death a few months ago, had been most energetic in bringing the old boys of the various colleges closer together. 'the gathering rose in silence as a mark of respect to the memory of Mr. Grundy. Dr. T. Hope Lowis, Dr. W. A. Fairclough, and Mr. N. Hanna replied briefly, and then Mr. f. H. Dawson, in a most humorous speech, proposed the toast of "Tho Masters." Mr. F. C. Stuckey replied. "Absent Old Boys" was proposed by Mr. A. **. Hume, and replied to by Mr. A. N. Jowitt, and cheers for the president brought the gathering to an end. Divine Service Attended. Yesterday morning the King's College old boys, to the number of 98, attended Divine service at St. Aidan's Church, Rcmuera. The Rev. W. Beatty preached an appropriate sermon. The service woe conducted by the Rev. E. E. Maiden, of King's College, and he was assisted by the Revs. F. 0. Harvie and G. H. Strong. After the service the old boys were the guests of the principal of the college Mr. C. T. Major, and Mrs. Major. After dinner they spent a pleasant hour inspecting the college buildings and grounds, and recalling pleasant memories of the old days at college. GATHERING AT EPSOM.

SPORTS AND FOOTBALL MATCHES. There was a very largo gathering on Saturday afternoon at Alexandra Park, lent by the Auckland Trotting Club to tho King's College Old Boys' Association for the purpose of playing the annual football matches with the present boys and for the holding of a brief sports programme. Among those present were many old boy 6 from the Southern colleges. Lively music was provided by a string band, and the. ladies dispensed afternoon tea, Tho trophies won during tho afternoon were presented to the successful competitors by Mrs. C. T. Major. The proceedings were very enthusiastic and closed with hearty cheers for Mr. and Mrs. Major, and for the president of the association, Mr. J. C. Burns.

Both tho football matches were keenly contested, the old boys winning in each case, tho junior match by 12 points to 8 and the senior game by 8 points to 5.
