THE PRICE OF TIMBER.
Sir,—The timber-workers havo approached the Prime Minister to put an export duty on butter. Might I suggest that country workers approach Mr. Massey to put an export duty on all timber. A few years ago the best of kauri could bo purchased at from 9s to 10s. per 100 ft, men getting very fair wages at that. Now wo havo to pav as much as 30s per 100 ft for it, freight'extra. Small Settleh.
