DEARTH OF ROAD METAL.
POSITION IN GISBORNE.
[lit TELEGRAPH.—OWN correspondent.] Gisiiorne, Thursday. The question of future metal supplies is giving considerable' concern to the Gisborno Municipal Council. Some few years ago a tram line was laid to a quarry at Gentle Annie, 12 miles from town, .but the supply there has been exhausted, and there is a dearth of suitable road metal in the district. A proposal has been made by "an Auckland syndicate to deliver Coromandel granite at Gisborne. Another proposal is to bring stone from Akaroa. Tho council has decided to ascertain what other outside supplies are available.
