ESCAPE PROM DROWNING.
I RESCUE IN THE HARBOUR.
A narrow escape from drowning was experienced last night by John Donovan, aged about 45 years. He was seen to fall off No. 3 Jetty into the harbour at eleven, o'clock. Mr. J. Jensen, who was a passenger for the Great Barrier by the steamer Waiotahi, promptly sprang into the water, and succeeded in bringing Donovan safely ashore. Spectators state that but for Mr. Jensen's plucky action the other man would probably have been drowned. Donovan was not much the worse for his immersion in the water. On 'the water police being communicated with he was arrested by Constable Tobin on a charge of drunkenness, and lodged in the station for the night.
