SUM OF £1500 WANTED. j
Teams of collectors comprising fullv twd hundred men and women have bun dm . ganised to conduct a seven-days' cam-! i paign in the interests of tho Remueraj' Children's Homo. Their object wiil to to raise a fund of £1500 by a canvass 1 ; of the city and suburbs, so that tho newi building at Manurewa nay be opened freo of debt. If that objective is surpassed ij* ! a sufficient amount to pay for the neces4 i sary new furniture, tho result vill be'] regarded as all the moro satisfactory. A final meeting of all the collectors will be held in the concert chamber of the Young Men's Christian Association building to; morrow evening, and the campaign wilj be opened the next day and conclude^' on the following Saturday. 1 j The new homo has been erect, d st a cost, including the purchase of land, of £8648 18s 4d. Five legacies to the home hav« provided £1722 13s 4d) donations have been received amounting to £3537 13s 7d, and tho board of man-' agement expects to receive £.1850 from thq sale of its Remuera property and otlieij sources, making a total of .£7210 63 10dj The estimated deficit on the building fund is £1438 lis sd, and a further sum of £150 will probably bo needed for furj : nishing. • j
