The skin market is still held la the neighbourhood. In 1615 the fairs !?' St. James and St. Paul, were of great j®por.;ance, and it is stated that the Severn seas were so crowded by pirates wit shipping with the city was greatlv Interfered with. In 1635 the pirates were .
