London, June 27. Three sailors were killed and three injured on the battleship Monarch at Newquay yesterday.

While they were hoisting a launch aboard a shackle broke, and the launch fell upon them.

At the inquest on the victims the verdict stated that the shackle was defective, but. the defect was such as not to be discoverable.
