COMPETITIONS CONTINUED.
WINS FOR GRAFTON AND PONSONBY. In (he competition for the Auckland Lacrosse Association's premiership, which was continued on Saturday, Grafton crcatod a surprise by beating North Shore at Victoria Park, whilst at the Domain, Ponaonby won easily from West end. PONSONBY V. WEST END. From the opening face, the blues assumed the aggressive. Edwards brought the ball to goal, ap<i McCoskrie accepted and sent to Swales, who smartly landed a goal. The next face" saw Higginbothapj bring play into Ponsonby'a territory, then pass to lieCluie. Kelly intervened, and threw to Courtney, who gavo to Edwards. The lastnamed dodged in and luckily found the net. Again the blues came to the attack, and the bail went from Grouch to McCoskrie. Stewart saved, and Heather brought the ball down the field. The pass was well intercepted by Bowring, who" transferred play to midfield. Crouch broke away and passed to McCoskrio, who landed Ponßonby'a third goal. After changing ends the blues set up" an attack, most of the work being resultleas, owinar to tho defence of West End's cuatodiao, Bidwards, fru before half-time had sounded Brinsityn and McCoskrie had scored goals, /Hid mado Ponsonby 5 to 0. in the remaining half, the blues continued to have the better of play, McCoskrie, Swales, and Brinsden scoring Uvo goals apiece. West End retaliated by netting three goals, McCluw '2) and Higirinbothum, and the game ended: — Ponaonby 11 West End 3 Mr. L. Headdey acted as referee. GRAFTON V. NORTH SHORE. The Grafton-North Shore match was played at Victoria Park, and was won by the former team.
