frEOM OtK OWN CORRESPONDENT.] London, May 22. Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Ring (Auckland) wilj spend three months in a tour, by motor of the British Isles. They will leave for New Zealand about the end of October.

Captain C. Shawe, of the Rifle Brigade, who has been aide-de-camp to the Governor of Now Zealand, the Earl of Livorpool, for some time past, is now gazetted military secretary to His Excellency, as from July 1.

Lady Eileen Knox, Lord Eanfurly's daughter, made an ascent in an aeroplane this week with Mr. Gustav Hamol, who is, perhaps, the best-known of British aviators. This is Lady Eileen's sixth or seventh flight.

Mr. and Mrs. D. A. Gray (Auckland) hope to travel by way of the Panama Canal when they leave for New Zealand in September. They are going to Scotland shortly, then to Belgium and *Germany. Their son, on whose account the trip was mainly undertaken, has benefited considerably in health.

Callers at the High Commissioner's office during the past week have included tho following Auckland residents: and Mrs. J. K. Martin, Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Whitehead, Mr. and Mrs. A. Fyfe, Mr. W. H. Wilson, Mrs. A. Bayley, Mr. .T. Maraden Caughey and Mr. Hugh P. Caugfioy, and Miss E. Jackson.

The Hon. George Fowlds, of Auckland, was present at a meeting hold this week to consider what steps should be taken to commemorate the work of the late Mr, Joseph Fels, the' American millionaire who devoted much of his money and time to the promotion of single tax views. Mr. Fowlds proposed the resolution expressing appreciation of the work and character of Mr. Fels, and sympathy with his widow.

Tho Rev. James Wilson, formerly of East Street Hall, Auckland, who has beon in Australia for two years, has reached England with Mrs. Wilson. He has come on a preaching and lecturing tour, and he has been authorised by tho Now Zealand Government to lecture in the interests of the Dominion. During the summer Mr. and Mrs. Wilson will visit Norway and Sweden, returning to Australia via tho States and Canada.

Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Smeoton (AuckI land) think of remaining here for a year. 1 Next month Mrs. Smeeton leaves for Stockholm, to attend tho triennial conference of the Young Women's Christian Association as Auckland delegate. At the conclusion of tho conference she will bo joined in Norway by hor husband and son, and a tour will be made through Germany and Holland back to London. Miss (Edna Smeeton has settled down iiO steady; work at the Royal Academy of Music, whore, in addition to pianoforte studies under Professor Albanesi, she if taking tip tho viola as a second study. The family are making tboir headquarters at 40, Clanriamle Gardens, Kensington, for a few months.
