The Ix4el was J fared with great diffl?ally. j Apparently tho fire originated in the j Town Mall. Tha Otaki Maori firiuw Band h>at meral jftstrumenU and mu#ic vaiofd j at £.50. After tho fire the bank safe* were j opened. The cont«r.ts were found to bo intact, though a number of papers had been scorched. A cioematograph jilanl belonging to Mr. Richard Bovan was burned, ami tlw ! owner's loss is considerable. The origin of the fire is not known.
