Wellington, Thursday. Is reply to a question to-day, concerning the congestion in the mental hospitals, the Minister in charge of the Department (the Hon. R. H. Rhodes) stated that in addition to the new brick buildings that are now being constructed at Avondale, a building is also being erected at Tokanui, in the King Country. One of the Avondale buildings, which is nearly completed, will accommodate '.'0 females, and another building, which is also cow uqder construction, will provide for 100 males. These buildings, as well as that at Tokanui, the Minister stated, will enable the Department to make a considerable advance towards thp earning out of a satisfactory classification scheme.
