SOCIAL FOR MR. MASSEY.

MR. FISHER. ARRIVES TO-DAY.

N'trinniors engagements have been made bv tho Prime Minister (the Right HonW. F. Massey) for his visit to Auckland. He will arrive this morning from Te Kuiti, and will leave on Sunday for Wellington. It is unlikely that Mr. Massoy will leavo Wellington again until after tho session of Parliament, which opens on Thursday.

A short address will be given by the Prime Minister in opening the annual provincial conference- of the Reform League this morning. Several questions of public interest will be the subject of representations by deputations during the day. Mr. Massey will be entertained this evening by the residents of Mangere at a social gathering in the Mangere Public Hall. Mr, W. Westney will preside, and addresses will be given by Mr. H. R. Mackenzie (chairman of the Road Board), j and Mr. J. Whyte (president of the local branch of the Farmers' Union). Mr. Massey will also be invited to address tho gathering. A musical programme will be given, and a dance will follow.

Tho ceremony of driving the first pilo of the now Mangere Bridge will be performed by the Prime Minister to-morrow afternoon. In order that it may ho performed without interruption, the present bridgo will bo closed against' vehicular traffic for an hour. All the members of the local bodies which are contributing to tho cost of the new bridge have received invitations to attend the function, and all Mayors and chairmen of other public bodies, and other prominent citizens have also been invited. Tho guests will afterwards bo entertained to luncheon by tho Mangere Road Board. Mr. Maswsy will then bo presented with a gold pencil in the shape of a pile as a memento of the occasion.

J A political address was cjven by the [ Minister for Customs (the Hon. F. M. B. Fisher) in Waihi last evening. Mr. Fisher will arrivo in Auckland to-day. He will deliver addresses in Kohukolui to-morrow evening, and Kawakawa on Monday evening. The Minister will return to' Auckland on Tuesday, and leave the same day for Wellington, Having completed a tour of his district, the Minister for Railways (the Hon. W. H. Hemes) returned to Wellington yesterday, joining the first express" at Frankton Junction.
