Some of the local friendly societies have been fraternising and entertaiuing each otheT during the past month The Oddfellows first invited the Forester? to a social and euchre party in the Masonic Hall, and on Wednesday evening the Foresters returned the compliment. There was a numerous attendance on the latter occasion. At the euchre party the prizes were won by Messrs. F. Fearnley and M. . Glvnn.
The annual social in connection with Holy Trinity Church if. always a popular event, and on Thursday evening the attendance was even laTger than usual, the accommodation afforded by the spacious parish hall being all utilised. The firstpart of the programme consisted of vocal music, dances, and a conjuring "entertainment, and was throughout most enjoyable. Afterwards the vicar (the Rev. H. Mason) addressed the company on the organisations connected with the churchy, and spoke of the useful work they were doing.
