NO REDUCTION POSSIBLE.

Ottawa, June 18. Replying yesterday to a deputation from the League of Empire, Mr. Hobhouse (Postmaster-General) declined to reduce the newspaper rates to Id per lb for Australia, New Zealand, and South. Africa, as this would involve a loss of £27,000 yearly, and an extra annual expenditure of £80,000.
