BRICKLAYERS' DEMANDS.
DOMINION AWARD PROPOSED.
[BY telegraph.—press association.] Wellington, Tuesday. •";' The dispute between the Bricklayers' Union and the Wellington' Building Contractors' Association came before the Conciliation Council to ; day, Mr. P. Hally (commissioner) presiding.' A schedule of demands which it is proposed to make into a Dominion award, asks for an increase from Is 7d to.ls 9d. per hour and material increases in apprentices' •wages, also for a 44-hours' week instead .of- a 45 hours' week. Amendments .are also asked for in several other clauses.
The proposals of the employers' committee are for a 44 hours' week, ls7d per '-hour, with the rest of the, clauses based ; for the most part on the .tei|is of the.'car- / penters' award. The council went into :":■. committee to discuss tho proposals.
