AUSTRALIA AND EMPIRE.
SIR G. REID'S HOPE.
By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright.
- London, May 13. The Sphinx Club last night gave a banquet in honour of Sir G. 'H. Reid (High Commissioner for Australia) at the Connaught rooms. Sir George said that Australia had never played a larger part in the development of the Empire than in the past 20 or 30 years. He hoped that all races of the Empire would develop the higher qualities, and every part become qualified to take a share in Imperial affairs. Any such attempt at present, however, would lead to chaos.
