marred by the rain. ATTENDANCE OF 1314. FURTHER AWARDS MADE. Tub wet weather experienced yesterday counteracted to some extent the attractions at. the Auckland Exhibition. On account of the prevailing dampness the i jki: air concert to have been given by the Auckland Pip© Band, assisted by Miss Polly McLaren (champion woman dancer of Scotland and New Zealand) and Mr, \V I'hadwick and pupils, had to be held in the concert hall. Lovers of Scottish mn>.c and dancing were present in full fore". The attendance at the Exhibition during the day totalled 1314 persons, including 888 adults and 66 children who paid at the turnstiles, and 360 seasonticket holders. An innovation is J.n be introduced tomorrow night, when a -scries cf free openair picture shows will be commenced. The performances will begin lrghtly at eight o'clock. Another attraction will take the form of dancing by Wellington children, under the direct-ion of Miss Estelle Beere. Three performances will be given in the No. 1 Baudstand, the first being on Friday night, the second on Saturday after- . i>on. and the third on Saturday evening. The children taking part in th°se dances performed before Mademoiselle Adeline Genre, the well known dancer who visited New Zealand recently, and were highly complimented by her upon their efficiency. The Harvest Festival. Keen interest is being taken in the harvest festival to be held cu Saturday, when an opportunity will be given to owners of motor-cars, motor bicycles, and bicycles to "in substantial prizes for the effe< i.iv i decoration of their machines. In addition, prizes have been provided for the wejitrs of the best, fancy costumes of different, types. Saturday evening, too, should be productive of much amusement, f'-r iliut will he the occasion when " Augustus Spondulex '' will be abroad. In response »to numerous requests, the executive has decided to continue the core petitions on Monday evening, when an impromptu speech-making contest will be held. On April 1 there will be a series of darning contests, including the | tango, "turkey trot," "apache," " bunny hug." " clog," and other styles of fancy dancing. POINT CHEVALIER BOARD. A meeting of the Point Chevalier Road Board was held last evening, there being present Messrs. W. Forest (in the chair), T. Dignon, P. Collins and J. Donald. Jt was decided to subsidise a proposed motor- bus sorvica and a timetable was agreed upon. The City Council advised that it agreed with tho widening of the Great North Road at the Western Springs and would give 'he necessary land. It was resolved to call applications for fl clerk. The Minister for Public Works, in reply to the board's suggestion that a commission ' should be set up to allocate the amount each local body should pay in reconstructing and maintaining the Great North Road, asked that plans and specifications be sent to him and the bodies concerned. The Auckland Drainage Board advised that tenders were being called for the construction of the newer from Meola to Oakley Creek. which would bring the :m»ntaJ hospital in touch with the systemLack of accommodation for the post and telegraph services, now being carried on in a store led to a resolution being passed suggesting to the chief postmaster that the progress of the district warranted a new post and telegraph office.
