"QUEEN OF CARNIVAL."
INTERESTING ANCESTRY. (BY TELEGRAPH.OWX correspondent.] Wanuanci. Friday. Over 2000 people paid for admission to the large new theatre this evening to witness the crowning of Mrs. Gregor McGregor as Queen of the Carnival. According to the Hon. Dr. Pomare, the chosen queen was descended from an ancestor whose body was so tapu that ordinary persons were not allowed to rub noses with him; and consequently when such a ceremony had to be performed he rubbed his nose against his knee.
