TELLING ONE'S HUSBAND TOO MUCH ! \Vn so often heai> of the virtues of econI o:ny—how delighted a husband is with the wife who takes care of the pennies, and so on. But the enthusiastic housewife sometimes finds it a great mistake to tell her lord aud master too much about the details of her economy. " Look at this blouse ! " said one such capable lady to her husband. " Isn't it the sweetest thing? Looks like one of .Milne's , best, doesn't it?" Husband agreed, with a non-committal smile. He was wondering what it had cost. "Do you know what it cost?" she went on. "One and six' That was for the buttons! J made it out of the lace overskirt from my old evening dress and a bit of silk I got at last year's bargain sale. Now. don't you think I was very clever?" And she beamed expectantly. "Clever? That's not the word for "it," said hu.'.band warmly. " I'm proud of you ! And while I think of it, Davis wants us to dine with him at the Grand I next week. You must have a new frock." "Oh. darling! " said his clever wife, with a glad light in her eyes. '" I can't spare the money for you to get one made, but it won't be necessary," i he went on. beaming at her proudly; | "You're so clever; I'm sure you'll be I able to contrive something out of a few i odds and ends that will turn the other women green with envy. After a blouse like this, I'd back you to turn out a Coronation robe! You're what I call a model of economy ! " But the model's answering smile was joy w«v. ' "
