GILLIES PROPERTY.
Sir, —I notice from an advertisement signed by the town clerk that the Mayor invites ratepayers to be present at the Leys Institute to hear an address from him re the proposed loans for the purchase of the Gillies property and other purposes. I should be obliged if the Mayor would say straight out when addressing the meeting whether, when the rates are struck for the coming period, they will be increased or not. Ratepayer.
