THE COST OF LIVING

Sir, Some time ago my baker had to ! raise his men's wages by 3s per week each, .which amounted in all to 30s per week. The result was a halfpenny rise in the price of bread. Now instead of the baker paying that 30s the customers have to, with an additional £10 in the baker's pocket. The butcher pays a little more for fat stock, and up goes the price of meat. When he pays less, do we? No! for his extra shillings we pay pounds. How is a working man to rear a ft-mily in comfort and provide for old ago. We can't. Worker's Wife.
