The Papakura. Town Board recently re-quested-the Auckland Harbour Board to vest in it from 150 to 160 acres of theforeshore o£ the Manukau Harbour for a. public reserve. The controlling body decided at its meeting yesterday that the request could not be entertained, but thai no objection would be offered to the vest-. ing in the Papakura Town Board of a smaller area of 'the beach, provided it be used exclusively for public purposes. >■ According to some experiments mada with sugar beet slices it would appear* that the ratio of their feeding value witb»„ regard to maugels is 1.8. It is pointed out* that it is not worth while to feed slices at' | £6 per ton unless mangels cost more than 15s a ton to grow.
