WORK OF THE PAST YEAR,
The annual report of the Victoria League mentions that the department of the league's activities concerned with the sending of books to the back blocks has been much in evidence during the year, 275 books and nearly 400 magaz ; nes being sent away, besides parcels to isolation camps during the Maori epidemic, and . parce's at Christmas to the various Orphan Homes in the city, me committee record their thanks to the donors of literature, no book 3 having been bought at all this . ~i yes,r or last. Flourishing new branches j are now in existence at Ohura and New Plymouth, and a whole school of Maori children at Tokaanu are taking intense in-J|| terest in the work, and "are an object ||| lesson to many of our pakeha young , people, who are lamentably deficient M ' patriotism and Imperialism. --'SifliS
