BOARD OF EDUCATION.

ENLARGING TWO SCHOOLS. TEACHERS' APPOINTMENTS. The Education Board met yesterday morning. There were present:" .Messrs. G. J. Garland (chairman), J. D. u„. Kenzie, A. Burns, E. C. Banks, ('. T Barriball, W. Auld, E. C. Purdie, and G. Edgecumbe. The tender of J. H. -lames, of £807 for the enlargement of the ]« Kuiti school building, was accepted. The Whakatane school building is also to be enlarged, and A. Read's tender of £325 for the work was accepted. The Finance Committee recommended that the proposal to close the Driving Creek school should be referred to the chief inspector, and that he should report, as to the advisability of establishing it side school at Driving Creek. Harvey, assistant-master to Waihi District High School; Mis. ('. 0. Forsyth, assistant, to Beresford Street school; Miss V. Silvester, assistant, to Opotiki school; Miss A. M. McDonogh assistant, to Hamilton school; .\fiss D. M. Pilcher, assistant, to Onehunga school; Miss F. L. Applegate, assistant, tc Coromandel District High School; Mr. ('. R. Laws, pupil-teacher, to Devor.port school.
