AFTER THREE TRIALS. «s» ACCUSED ACQUITTED. For the third time a. married woman named Jessie Armstrong was placed upon her trial at the Supreme Court yesterday on a charge of having performed an illegal operation. On two previous occasions the jury were unable to come to an agreement over the case. His Honor Mr. Justice Cooper presided; the Hon. J. A. Tole, K.C., appeared for th" Crown, and Mr. W. E. Hackett defended the accused, who pieaded not guilty. The circumstances of the case, as alleged by the prosecution, were that a young and unmarried girl ca.led upon the accused to hav* her fortune told. The accused, nothing the girl's worried look, , suggested the cause. The operation, it was alleged, was then performed, and the' girl was sent to a private nursing home... . The defence was a complete denial of , the allegations made by the prosecution. J The jury, after deliberating for about a quarter of an hour, returned a verdict : of not guilty, and the accused was- di|» < charged.. '..
