J It was computed that in consequence of §f§ the waste 'of these "shorts" f M 20 per - cent. of the whole tf of the milled timber, which might be ; m put to good use in the manufacture of m boxes and in joinery, went to absolute M waste at the mills. If the Government "®| made a differential rate, all this valuable ffi timber might be saved and utilised. It.
