TROUBLESOME MOROS.
OFFICER CUT TO PIECES. By Telegraph.— Association—Copyright. (Received January 30, 9.30 p.m.) Brisbane, January 30. Reports from Eeastern steamers show that the United States is experiencing considerable trouble in the Philippinec in subduing the Metros. Recently the Moros ambushed an American officer and hacked him to pieces. Opinion is expressed in some quarters that the Philippines are likely to secure : independence, and it is considered that in that event .. serious trouble will be experienced by the Filipinos, who will be unable to cope with the Moros.
