(Received January 30, 10.50 p.m.)

Ottawa, January 29. A number of influential members of Parliament are said to be implicated in charges of corruption made by the Montreal Daily Mail. It is maintained that further revelations would gravely weaken the Opposition Party led by Sir Wilfrid Lauricr.

Following on these allegations, which charged three members of the Legislature with " graft" in connection with a concession for the formation of a Montreal Fairs Association, the editors were summoned to the bar of the House and gave the names of the men they accused, who thereupon . resigned their seats. Proofs were given by Detective Buttinger, who secured election as a director of the Fairs Association in order to get evidence against the accused- Detective Buttinger has since been appointed chief of the New York police. The Legislature has ordered an investigation. It is understood that the members who resigned intend ' to take legal action to clear themselves.
