♦ SPIRITUAL INDEPENDENCE. By Telegraph.—Press Association.— (Received January 50, 10.10 p.m.) London, January 30. The Archbishop of Canterbury has appointed a committee in compliance with a resolution passed by Cue Church Council in July, 1913,' to make an inquiry into changes advisable in.the relations of Church and State, in order to secure a fuller expression of the spiritual independence of tho Church and the national recognition of religion. The committee includes Lord Selborne (chairman), Mr. A; J. Balfour, Lord: Devonshire, Lord Hugh Cecil, and the Bishops of Oxford, Bristol and Liverpool.
