KURANUI.

The face in the magazine tunnel, Kuranui mine, which has been advanced a further 13ft, is now clear of the reef formation, and is penetrating a splendid class of mineralised country. Operations on the small leader were continued last week, and the face extended sft. The leader still bore a good class of minerals for gold. WATCHMAN. The ore in No. 1 stope, middle parallel reef (north face), Watchman mine, Tararu, showed zinc blende and sulphides freely last week, and a little gold could be seen. A fair tonnage of ore of a good grade, in which gold could be freely seen, was being obtained from the City of Dunedin reef. The reef in No. la level maintained a size of about 3ft, and was heavily charged with sulphides and zinc blende. All the ore broken in the mine was being saved for treatment. DOMINION. Favourable reef country was being .penetrated at the Dominion mine, Karangahake, last week. Quartz veins and mineral seams were traversing it, and water was issuing freely from the face. During the week, the face was advanced 14ft, making a total of 353 ft from the starting point. PROGRESS MINES. The following cablegram has been sent to the head office of the Progress (ReeftonJ Mines, Limited, London :—" No. 35 east —Result to date : First 3Jft, not previously reported, unpayable; next 18ft, 19.54dwt; next 10ft, average valve lOdwt. Reef still in face except top of south side. Reef appears to be pitching south. Considerable development work necessary before full extent and value of this body will be known." PROSPECTING PARTY. WAIHI-WHANGAMATA DISTRICT. t'BY TELEGRAPH. OWN CORRESPONDENT. Waihi, Tuesday. Mr. H. D- Morpeth, secretary of the Hauraki Prospecting and Miners' Association, has received a communication from the Minister for Mines to the effect that the prospecting party, Messrs. J. and M. Grace (Karangahake) and W. Newsham (Te Aroha), has been approved of, to prospect the Waihi- Whangamata district.
