SECOND WOOL SALE.

11,482 BALES CATALOGUED.

GOOD PRICES EXPECTED.

ANOTHER SALE PROBABLE.

A total of 11,482 bales of wool will be put up for auction at the second wool sale of the season, to be held in the Town Hall on Friday. Of this amount, 1200 bales will be offered by G. W. Binney and Sons, 3172 bales by Alfred Buckland and Sons, 3710 bales by Dalgety and Co., Limited (in conjunction with the Auckland Farmers' Union), and about 3400 bales by the NewZealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited. This is an inorease of 1273 bales as compared with last January's sale, when 10,209 bales were offered.

The sale is expected by brokers to show an improvement in prices as compared with the rates ruling at the first sale of the season. In sympathy with the keener demand experienced in Southern centres, keen competition for the finer grades of wool is anticipated. Keener demand, with a consequent improvement in prices in some cases, is also expected in regard to the coarser grades. The distinct hardening of the Home market may also affect the sale.

Owing to the recent strike and the consequent temporary transference of* country workers to the town, shearing operations have been late this season, and therefore there is a fair quantity of wool that will not come forward for this sale. A third sale, it is anticipated generally will be held at a later date, when this wool will be offered.
