London, January 20. Ellen Terry is arranging for a Shakesperean lecture tour to Australia and New Zealand, commencing at Melbourne in April.
STAGE'S BEST-DRESSED LADY. Ellen Terry is often spoken of as " the best-dressed lady upon the stage," vet her economy in matters of toilette is surprising. She designs all the costumes she wears upon the stage. She regards this as imperative, holding the opinion that a woman's character may be readily gauged by her dress. To a lady interviewer, Miss Terry recently said: "My expenditure upon stage dresses is generally supposed to be immense, but if people only knew how far a little money and a great deal of art and skill in manipulation will go in stage dressing, they would modify their opinions. My gowns are elaborately designed, but frequently the material is of the most inexpensive kind." The great actress's visiting card is of a stvle peculiar to herself. It is as small as the conventional gentleman's card, and bears the simple appellation—" Ellen Terry "
