CAR FALLS INTO A RIVER
CHAUFFEUR SENTENCED. ,By Telegraph—Prew Association—Copyright. (Received January 10. 12.15 a.m.) Paris, January 9. On April 19, while a motor-car was crossing a bridge over the Seine, the wheels suddenly skidded and the car ran into the river. The occupants of the car, the two children of Madame Duncan, a well-known dancer, and their governess, were drowned.
The chauffeur, who was arrested, said he pulled up suddenly to avoid another vehicle, and when he turned the handle to restart the car, it bounded forward into the river. He has now been tried, and sentenced to six months in prison for manslaughter.
