Two thousand chairmakers at High Wycombe yesterday went on strike, attacked a factory, and smashed the windows. A furious hand-to-hand fight with the police followed, bottles and stones being used as weapons. Several of the police were injured. The non-strikers, who were working in the factories, were rescued with great difficulty.
