FATE OF OSCAR WILDE.

Is Oscar Wilde alive? Rumour on more than one occasion has answered the question in the affirmative. This time that mysterious . quantity takes" a more definite form, for, says a writer in Modern Society, the poet-dramatist who was supposed to have died o.n November 30, 1900, and to have been finally laid to rest in the cemetery of Pere Lachaise, is said to have been seen in Paris quite recently by his nephew, Mr. Arthur Cravan Lloyd, a professional boxer arid poet, editor of the French paper Maintenant.. .It was. in the columns of that paper that Mr. Lloyd made his statement. On the ; 23rd. of March last he is reported to have said Wilde called at his flat! the poet had grown fat, was wearing a beard, and he told his nephew that he was engaged' in - writing his memoirs. The story-is incredible enough, and Rumour was ever a- lying jade, but unlikely as it is, more unlikely things have happened.
