The Rowing League of New South Wales has considered Albany's letter asking the league's opinion of his action in challenging Barry for the championship, in view of the' fact that he had in good faith challenged before Paddon interposed and called upon Barry to cover his £200 deposit. The league is of opinion that Barry should row Albany, and a resolution has been adopted to the effect that the league considered Barry's claim of £500 for the championship unreasonable, £200 being sufficient. AUCKLAND CLUB. Trial fours for trophies presented bv Mr. J. Hellaby, vice-president of the club, postponed from December 20, will be held on Saturday, 17th inst. Entries close with the secretary at the boathouie on Tuesday next, at 5 p.m. On Saturday, January 24, stump trials will be held, entries for which will be received up to the 17th tost. Preliminary heats will be rowed off during the week previous to the 24th. CHAMPIONSHIP REGATTA. Now that the Russell and Whangarei regattas are over, crews are busily engaged training for the championship events to be decided at the big regatta at Mercer on the 29th inst. Prior to Christmas crews were handicapped by bad weather, but with the excellent conditions now prevailing a marked improvement in the form shown has been apparent. Arrangements
