SUDDEN DISAPPEARANCE.
HAT AND COAT FOUND.
[BT TELEGRAPH.PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Taumarunui, Friday. The local police were informed last week
that a, man named Tom Halvey liad reached the road camp at Patunga suffering from delirium tremens. Patunga is 16 miles down the Wanganui River, and Constable Orchard was despatched to kike charge of Halvey.
When the constable arrived, he found his man missing, and a search party scoured the neighbourhood all night without result. The constable then proceeded to Kokokonui, and there, near the river landing, found Halvey's coat and hat, but no sign of the body. The constable procured a canoe, and searched the river for several miles without avail.
