SECOND WOOL SALE.

DELAYS TO SHEARING.

Thb second wool sale of the season will be held in Auckland on January 30, when it is expected that the''entries will equal, if not exceed, those of the second sale ot last year. It is early yet to speak with confidence regarding the prospects of the sale, so many difficulties having arisen to delay sheafing operations. The broken weather of the spring, the withdrawal of so much labour from the country during the recent industrial unrest, and the wonderful growth of grass have all'prevented shearing operations from being carried < n as extensively as in other years. The extraordinary growth of grass has caujad farmers to make more hay this summer Wool is coming forward very slowly, but as the number of bales offered at the first sale was below that of last season, it is expected that a rush will set ,in shortly. One firm which catalogued 1000 bales less at the opening sale expects that number to be added to the total of last year's second sale, and thus to submit a very large assortment. It is estimated that there is an increase of 87,000 sheep in the Auckland Province, but the slight drop hi prices may cause more growers to ship direct in the hopes of securing better prices on the London market.
