London, January 7. A laegb jar of hydrochloric acid was accidentally broken yesterday while being taken up the stairs of the Baker Street "tube." The acid attacked the iron guards of the steps, and caused the liberation of chlorine gas, which spread rapidly, and its suffocating nature half choked hundreds of the travellers in the station at the time.
