Visitors' Comments. Ais't.,l- ••' -he Exhibition are making good use -i ••:<• opportunity afforded them of signing :fi.il- names and entering a criticism in the book lying in the Tourist 1-partmni! s bureau. Curiously enough some of the m-.rt appreciative references come "in \isitors from overseas. "Splendid indeed," says an Irishman from Bellas!, and a Liverpool man has la,, same note, but adds that the Exhibition is expriuive. A South African considers the Exhibition very instructive and Auckland scene! very charming. There aro dozen-, it references in conventional terms to the excellence of tho Exhibition. Th« heat oi ihe early days of tHo New Year drew some comments, and the dust on the footpaths has been responsible for sewral criticisms- A farmer from the Ingle wood district of Taranaki has the ix.7ipl.iint that it is "pay all tho time." but an Ormondville lady replies that it is "cheap at tho price."

Yesterday's Happenings. The attendant- at the Exhibition yesierdav was 5572, including 1335 season ticket-holders and 3603 adults and 434 children who paid at the gates. The aquarium was visited by 402 people. The Royal Artillery Band did not play in the afternoon, but tho evening; programme was a very fine one, including selections from Wagner's operas and barcarolle from " Les Coutes Hoffmann." Corporal Reynolds played the piccolo solo "The Deo Blue Sea." 'i»e Te Kao native schoolboys Who have walked 325 miles to the Exhibition gave am interesting entertainment in the concert hall last evening, but they had the usual fate of performers inside the buildings, and failed to secure a large audience. The programme consisted of solus, part songs, dancing, recitations, and speeches. The dances were the most attractive feature. War dances, canoe dances, sj.ep dances, and poi dances were all performed with spirit and easy grace, and the distinctively Maori steps and gestures were much appreciated by the audience. The singing was not quite up to the same standard. The company contains a number of good natural voices, as was proved by tho solos, but in the part enngs the inevitable defects of insufficient rawing made themselves felt. Nevertheless, the audience derived considerable enjoyment from the sweet boyish voices, and at times the Maoris succeeded in conveying the atmosphere of their far northern settlement in a remarkable degree. The headmaster Mr. J. Banks) made a short speech intimating that the boys wore having an enjoyable time in Auckland. To indicate the mettle of his lads, he said that some of them had not missed a school attendance for four years, walking for portions of that time nine miles each way. One of his lads walked 28 miles for a fishing-line. The programme concluded with a haka. The boys will appear again in the concert, hall this afternoon and this evening and to-morrow evening. The Battleship Picture. The painting, by Mr. W. L. Wyliie,of the battleship New Zealand has been hung in the " black and white" room, which will be opened in a few days with an interesting collection of black and white and photographic work. The artist has painted the vessel in Portsmouth Harbour, bow on, thus conveying an impression of her great beam. The slatey-erey monster makes a not unpicturesque subject for the artist's brush, and in the more artistic subject* of sea ami sky he has put in some very fine work. Also bow on, in the distance is si'i'ii the Zealandia (originally called he New Zealand), and the picture also shows 11. M.5. George V. on the stocks, the Royal yacht, and H.M.S. Prince of Wales at anchor, A key drawing --mounted on the framegives the names of the various ships.
