THE GOLD RETURNS. £58,895 FOR DECEMBER. TOTAL FOE ELEVEN MONTHS, £823,416. Tan gold returns obtained from the various mines in the Auckland Province during the past month totalled £58,895 12s 6d. Of this amount, £56,639 Os 3d was won from the Ohincmuri field. Compared with the return for the previous month, the present figures constitute a decrease of £28.894 10s sd. This is largely due to the fact that the Talisman battery only ran for six days, it having to close down because of the shortage of coal. As compared with December of 1912. lost, month's yield shows a decrease of £26,730 2s Zd. The present figures complete the returns for tho first 11 months ol 1913, and bring the total value of bullion produced in the Auckland Province in that time to £823,416 0s Bd. This, when compared with the first 11 months of 1912, shows an increase of £129,825 14s lid. The returns for the past month are as follows: —• OHINEIITJRI. £ id Woihi G.M. Advice was received from the maaager of the Hauraki Reefs mine, Coromandel, yesterday that two tons of general dirt and five pounds of picked stone had been crushed and treated for a return of 12oz lOdwt of retorted gold, of the value of £35.
