SCOTTISH BY-ELECTION. SOUTH LANARK SEAT LOST. TRIANGULAR CONTEST. By Telegraph—Press Association— (Received December 14, 5.5 p.m.) London, December 13. The Liberals have lost the South Lanark seat. The polling in connection with the by-election rendered necessary by the death of Sir W. Menzies has resulted as follows: Watson (U.) 4257 Norton (L.) 4006 Gibb (Lab.) 1674 U. majority over L. ... 251 U. majority over Lab. 2583 This is the thirteenth seat won by the Unionists since the general election. The 13 seats arc:—Exeter, | Cheltenham, Oldham, South Somerset, North Ayrshire, South Manchester, Crewe, North-West Manchester, Midlothian, Bow and Bromley, Newmarket, Reading, and South Lanark. In the present case, the Liberal vote showed a falling-off of over 1000 votes. At tho general election, the Liberal candidate polled 5160 votes as against 3963 cast for the Unionist candidate
