IRELAND'S AGRICULTURAL IMPORTS.
According to the report of the lush Department of Agriculture on imports and exports at Irish ports, Ireland last year imported farm produce and other food stuffs, to the value of no less than £22,000,000, whilst the exports of live stock, bacon and hams, butter, poultry, eggs, oats, potatoes, vegetables, and flax, etc., together with the products of the live stock industries, such as hides, skins, wool, and feathers, represented a total value of ■about £31,000,000. Live stock is still the icltief agricultural export. Last year the total estimated value was £12,236,819, a decrease of over £1,000,000, as compared (with the export of 1911, due to the lestnc/tions necessitated by the outbreak of foot-jand-mouth disease. Th.9 total number of cattle shipped in 1912 amounted to only 655,321, which is the lowest figure reco-ied since 1878. Shipments of sheep and lambs, amounting to only 618,976 fell below tlioso of any year since 1889, while the number of swine exported amounted to only 265,241, wjiich, as in the case of cattle, is the lowest figure on record. On the other hand, horses showed a substantial increase, from 31,710 in 1911 to 34,849 in 1912, the rise in value being estimated at £153,350.
