[from our own correspondents.] WAIHI. PARISH PRIEST FAREWELLED. St, Joseph's Roman Catholic schoolroom was crowded on Friday evening bv panshioneers, who were there to bid farewell to the Right Rev. Monsignor Brodie, for many years parish priest. His successor, the Rev. Father Wright, occupied the chair, ana in the course of his'oncnin.' remarks referred to the splendid work accomplished by his predecessor, who with the assistance of his parishioners during a ministry of 12 years, had been responsible for the erection of the handsome buildings now comprising the property of the Church in Waihi. Eloquent testimony to the monsignor's zeal and enerp- was given by the Ven ' Archdeacon Hackett (Paeroa), and Mr. T. J. Ryan representing the parishioners. The Right Rev. Monsignor Brodie. who was presented with an illuminated address and a purse of sovereigns, made a touching reply, in the course of which he stated that he would make an effort to visit the district Periodically.
