Among the presents were gifts from the King and Queen of Spain, Mr. John Townley, for 18 years Mayor of Gisborne, was tendered a complimentary concert at Gisborne on Thursday night, in recognition of- his service as superintendent of the Gisborne Fire Brigade (telegraphs our own correspondent). Mr. Townley, who has retired from the position after 30 years' service, was made the recipient of a handsome piece of plate accompanied by an illuminated testimonial. Occasion was also taken to hand to Mr. Townley an address prepared in 1908, on his retirement from the Mayoralty. !
