CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.
A meeting of the council of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce was held yesterday, the president (Mr. S. J. Nathan) presiding. There were also present Messrs. G. Aickin, F. E. N. Gaudin, J. H. Upton, T. Peacock, G. L. Peacocke, A. C. Stevenson, and G. Beattie. Intimation was received from the Minister for Customs that he had decided to admit quilts and similar articles free, if imported in lengths of not less than 6yds. In connection with the Newmarket Borough Council's effort to have the Main Trunk expresses stopped at that station, the co-operation of the chamber was sought It was decided not to take any action. A vote of sympathy with "the relatives of the Lite Mr. T. Cotter, K.C., was passed on the motion of the president. New members were elected as follows: — Mr. Robt, E. Isaacs (Messrs. Potter, Fraser. and Co.), and Mr. Alfred Kidd.
