PROSPECTS BRIGHTENING. "YUAN THE ONLY HOPE." Times-Sydney Sun Special Cable. London, December 11. The prospects of China are now better than at any time since tho Revolution. Thoughtful Chinese are agreed that the President (Yuan Shih-kai) is the ablest man in the Republic, and that to oust him would mean disaster to the country. Trust, however, in the President is lacking. He fails to inspire them, though a certain number of his followers are devoted to him. His influence in the army is only limited.
