RECREATION CLUB.
A NUMBER of Birkdalo residents have . for Bomo time past been interesting .themselves in the formation of a" Recreation Club. As tho result of the offorts of a sub-committee consisting of Meisrß. J. Brook, Stewart T. Shcphord, and W. U. Timewoll, negotiations have been concluded with tho Birkenhead Borough Council for a loaso of tho unused portion of tho reservoir site at Bagot's Hill, whore it is intended to lay down a bowling green, croquot lawns, etc. Tho club has secured a lease for 21 years, at an annual rental of £1, provided tho improvements shall not bo less than £20 per annum. Tho council has undertaken that if. from any unforeseen cause, it iB necessary to interfere -with the club's lawns within 10 years, compensation, to be fixed by arbitration, will bo allowed. Now that ouch a suitable site has been secured, if. is intended to push on with the project with all possiblo dospatch.
